Fanuc ethernet/Rs-232/usb connection for getting operation info

$

Hi everyone,

I need to make a connection to Fanuc CNC controller (any type) and get operation datas (working status, alarm, speed etc.) live via any kind of interface (ethernet/rs-232/usb). I'll get these info directly into my own application. Normally in computer network devices there is a protocol named SNMP to get operation datas live. Is there a similar way to do this on these machines?

Thanks advance,
Semih.

Probe Fault "Do If"?

$

Hi all! First post here. Nice to have an outlet of wise minds! More to the point... so we have a collaborative robot tending a haas vf2. We have many fail safes like a Z axis check which is a Do If with defined measurement. So it checks 2 corners of the part and if it's not sitting level up to .005, it will reject the part by going to bottom of program and unloading parts then attempting to load again. So the issue we are running into is if the part is dropped on the way into the machine or missloaded etc. when the (renishaw) probe comes in to probe the x or z, it faults with surface not found and stops production. Is there something I can edit inside the probe cycle that makes it to where when it faults out to kick it to the "unload cycle" we have and not just fault and stop? Thanks for any ideas!

About To Order A Tormach 1100M

Hello,

I am about to order a Tormach 1100M, I am familiar with Solidworks/Inventor but not with CAM software. I am getting this machine to make low volume gun parts/modifications to firearms as well as do some engraving on aluminum (logos/lettering). I just wanted to create an account her because I know I'm going to have questions along the way, and I also wanted to ask if anyone had any promo codes they weren't going to use.

I plan to include my work in several videos on my YouTube channel, if anything is of interest to you guys I can hopefully share that stuff here.

Thanks!

spindle dropping on automatic mode fanuc 0m

Hi, I've got a problem with this older machine, when in manual mode, it moves and jogs normally, but after you switch to auto mode (to run a milling program), or edit or mdi, the spindle starts dropping and the emergency reset button lights up, you can't reset the machine or start milling, you can only switch back to jog mode and reset the machine and move it normally, it automatically returns to last position in Z axis (spindle rises again), everything seems fine again...

I can home the machine, but everything else makes the machine stall and spindle drops, emergency reset light up...
No error is shown on display, only emergency reset button lights up.
What are possible causes of such behavior?
Thanks in advance.

CNC Coolant Disposal Cost?

I'm doing research for a start-up business looking into cheaper/faster ways to process/recycle emulsion waste. For soluble cutting oil used in CNC machines for metal, how much do you pay for disposal of the waste fluid when you get rid of it? Also, How frequently do you generate waste that needs to be hauled off? I've heard everything from never to once a month....

Trak DPM servo amplifier out?

I have a 1997 vintage Trak DPM that appears to have a bad servo amplifier on the Y axis. I changed the Z axis servo and amplifier about a year ago. They want $600 + for a rebuilt and $700 + for a new one $1300 + for a new servo with the amplifier. Can these things be fixed possibly and cheaper? I am taking the dealers word for it being bad I told him what it was doing running very hard and alarming out so I removed the belt and the Y axis turns easy but when the belt is on it is very hard to turn and alarms out when you try to jog that axis. It feels really rough like something with bad bearings. I don't doubt the dealers info on the bad servo amp but I hate to change the amp to only have to turn around and replace the servo motor. I don't have much experience with these machines so I am looking for some good advice. I have a small business and use this machine to make my own parts it doesn't run more than maybe 10 hours a month on average.

Thanks Mike

Thread mill 1/2" 20 with a 1/4 20 theread mill?

I am doing some thread milling using my cnc router because it does not have the torque to drive a tap and cannot reverse. I have a thread mill for 1/4 20. I should be able to use the same thread mill for 1/2" 20? Is there a reason not to?

Sry for my bad English..
So, we bought a new lathe with Fanuc 15t, and I tried the G71 rough cycle, but don't work.. tried the one line, and two line version to. Also tried G73, but nothing..
Also can't use the G72 face rough, G76 thread, and the drill cycles... nothing work.. (but work on our another machine.)

Maybe I need to change parameter somewhere?

Using probe to measure bores , adjust offset, recut macro

$

I have an '06 Haas VF5 t I'd that has the std .0014" spindle taper runout so no matter what holder used the endmills are off quite a bit which also causes bore sizes when circular interp hard to get on size without multiple cut , measure , readjust , recut , measure ,adjust , recut . Of course it also doesn't do round holes unless 2 or 3 spring passes(was this way from new).

I'd like to have a macro to run program and cut the bore , call up the Renishaw probe to probe the hole and check against what was programmed (if possible with the older probe), adjust tool offset and then recut the bore . This probe doesn't have the newer macros/programs but does put the measured dia in #188 . I'm just getting into macros and can read and understand much of it but to actually write one is another thing for some of these workarounds . I routinely verify probe tip runout and that it's oriented correctly. With the taper runnout it can only be true when in the spindle one way . We only have a few Garflex boreheads that don't end up much easier to get sizes for simply boring the holes when only doing 3 -10 bores then on to another part , plus they don't cover the diameter range of bore I do .

CNC milling aluminum bronze

Hello.
I am going to CNC machine some aluminum bronze items in the next few days and i would like some recommendations, given that i have not previous experience working with this material.
1. Do i need to use coolant?
2. I will use imachining and the software already takes into account the material properties and gives some specific feeds/speeds. Should i trust them?
3. What type of tool should i use? Plain carbide end-mill will do the job?
Thanks in advance!

LNS bar feed Fanuc 18I quick (i hope) question

$

so here is the code i have been using at the end of program to run the barfeed
all works .. It is a servo 65 short bar type. The thing is the M21.. I spoke to Fred at LNS and the typical chuck open and closed calls dont work on my Romi E320, instead it uses M20 which is a "start bar feed" call out.. the M21 stops it.. M20 works great but if i get to the top of the program without the m21, the feeder bar is in contact with the bar, not good.. If i run the M21, the program stops right there on the M21.. i need to find a call i guess to shut the A1 parameter in the lns off or back to zero.. Do i have the m21 in the right spot?
thank you

Does anyone have an idea on what i could try, is it a specific Romi thing? thank you

Fanuc 16i - question about drives / controller

$

We have been contacted about updating an X-Axis drive on a large horizontal boring mill that has a red hat Fanuc motor and 16i controller.

My question is - what is the interface between the drives and 16i controller? Is it an analog +/- 10VDC torque or velocity command?

I would rather just replace the entire controller / motors / feedback system with new, but in the event that this would not fit the customer's budgetary appetite, we would like to do something to help them out.

The error message on the screen is "Matrix4-xyzs Motion controller subsystem failure".
We have done the suggested work from Hurco ( reseat boards, swap to next position) and it still faults out on reboot.
Hurco wants $9000 for the PCP Assy MXCNC++.
Any other options?

What’s everyone running on their 3” bars as far as doc goes?
I’m cutting some 4330 v mod with a 3” bar sticking out 26.75 only taking .1 per side and it’s cutting good but I really need to speed it up If I can. I’m using the same bar to finish and the bore has a 32 finish with plus minus .0025 tolerance.
