Analogue Velocity or Current mode for VMC?

Hi,
looking for opinions on which mode is best to use for analogue axis control of a VMC retrofit I am doing.
I am leaning towards Velocity (speed) mode but have seen some info suggesting current (torque) mode may be better.
I have tuned one axis in Velocity mode and got very nice results so the arguments against velocity, in that it being harder to tune than current, is not what I am after. I am just wanting to know peoples opinions on which they consider best and why?

Thanks for any replies.
