Hey ya'all.
I find myself doing more drilling now then ever before. Crazy.
I use a 6mm spot drill to touch off my holes (LOL) (Aluminum) and thought, this is only a 7mm Jobber this will be fine... NOOOOOO... holy crap, even at 2 mm pecks it bends the drill... like seriously bends it...
Madness!
Does anyone have a rule of thumb for pilot drilling? Like start at 5mm, then go up by 2 sizes or something?
Also what do you all typically peck at or do you use a ratio peck. I am trying to peck at 2 mm currently.
Also any tips on thin sheet metal? I have some 0.5mm steel i need to drill. I hear the spur drill bit / lip bits are actually really good for drilling thin metal so it doesn't leave a crappy hole finish / tear.
Does that sound right??? Could it??? I don't believe everything I hear.
Thanks.
