350 Surface Speed

I'm going to vent a little bit because I know you guys will understand. I have a co-worker who runs our Haas Tl-1 lathe. Now I know it's not the ballsiest machine and it only has a max RPM of 2000. We run Sandvik tools and his main OD roughing tool uses the CNMG 12 04 04-PM insert. Now it doesn't matter what he's running, whether it be hot rolled, 4140, or aluminum. He runs that damn lathe at 350 surface speed, .035 (max) depth of cut with a max RPM of 875! If I had to guess, he probably leaves .01 or less for a finish pass with the same cutter. Needless to say his parts always look like shit and take forever to run. I've spoke my mind to him many of times before, but not being a foreman or anything, he doesn't listen. Not that I think he would if I were a foreman.

Anyone have any good ideas on how to get make him understand the basics of CNC lathe work besides bashing his head into the lathe?

Also, feel free to tell your own similar stories.
