Since first mill got sold before I called seller back ( thread OKUMA Cadet Mate ) I was back looking for a mill
I found another OKUMA and a Hurco at Action Machinery that I decided to go look at.
1998 OKUMA CADET MATE OSP700M control in good condition with some tool holders. 40 x 20 not sure on hours
1997 Hurco BMC 30 with Ulitmax SSM control 30 x 18, 9700 hrs
I thought the Hurco was decent machine and much less money but control itself wasn't very intuitive, text was tiny to say the least. None of the techs had much experience with it. The MPG had no feel to it and spun like a toy. Feed & spindle over ride knobs had no markings so had to program a speed then kinda turn knob till speed matched programmed speed. I know it must be easier then that but without a knowledgeable person there the answer didn't jump out at me.
Hurco is box way on Z and linear on x & y which is way my Sharnoa is.
OSP on the other hand is a much more robust control with ability to control everything from operators panel
OKUMA is box way
Both have 8k spindles
Leaning toward OKUMA. It's $8500 more but just seems a much more machine
Any Hurco owners here that can convince me otherwise ?
Thanks
Rob
