Hey there so I'm looking to order two matched 4" inch vises for our CNC mill. I was originally planning on getting kurt's like the 6" one I have now, but after reading some threads on here I think I may go with the slightly cheaper Glacern 4" vises. We need two matched vises because we have the need to do a lot of long, 10"-12", thin pieces that we can't do in the 6" vise without excessive chatter, like REALLY bad.
My real question though is how does everyone set up their matched vises? I've tried finding some guide online all morning but to no such luck. I talked with one of machinists here at our shop and we were thinking of setting one up normally then using a large piece of precision steel to align the other vise with the vise that was setup properly. Other than that I can't really think of anything that wouldn't be a super pain in the butt. I also can not find anywhere to buy a piece of material that has tight enough tolerances to use as described earlier.
Thanks in advance.
