Hello,
My name is Cody Stephens i am 22 years old and i am new to CNC machining. I have noone to teach me, i just stuck the task upon myself to learn the machine (Deckel Maho) 3+2 I am currently in the process of making a pulley. i need an inside pocket at 7" Diameter which i already have programmed but i cannot seem to find the right feed and speed. the material is a very trashy cast style steel so i am curious is to what you guys think. How much should i be taking off per pass? i need a total depth of 1.5", how fast shall i run my spindle? and what should my feed rate done. i am looking to get the best bang for my buck time/finish wise. I am plunging into the center and spirialing outward on my program so how much of my toolbit should i be using on these cutting paths? 50%? 25%?
What tool should i use? i have been using a 4 flute, center cutting .75" roughing endmill.
Thanks for the help in advance, i am currently looking at a few feed/speed calculators but i am new to the cnc and would just like some starter numbers to reference.
