Questions about setting up boring tools on CNC lathes

I'm setting up a small CNC gang tool lathe and while I'm pretty familiar with manual lathes this is my first time using a CNC lathe.

So far its gone fine but now I need to get some boring tools set up and even on the manual lathe setting up boring tools isn't one of my strengths.

The boring tools I have all have round shanks, some with inserts and some with brazed on carbide bits.

Can I set these tools up with their round shanks right on the lathe centerline (vertically that is) or does the height on indexible boring tools have to be tweaked so the tool centerline is not on center with the lathe spindle vertically?

In the past on manual lathes, typically with quick change posts, I just dinked around with the height on the tool holder and rotation of the tool until the finish quality was acceptable but I wasn't really paying attention to whether the vertical center height of the tool was the same as the spindle.

Thanks,

Paul T.
