I am a new member to the forum wanted to say hi. Long time reader first time poster.
I am working on a Makino FNC with a Fanuc 16mb Prof controller running with Makino's Super GI software. I have a unique problem I am trying to pinpoint the cause of. Machine is drip fed from a PC running Spectrum's Multi-DNC software. Everything seems to run smoothly on the machining side except for helical interpolations with smaller drills and bigger radius circles. The mill will machine about a quarter of a circle at a time and pause and continue doing this until the circle is done. It interpolates smoothly with a bigger bit and a smaller hole no problem, but it seems with the more points due to the combination it has this pausing problem. I have tried changing the baud rates between both machine and DNC both up and down to see if it were a communication issue with no change.
Is anyone familiar enough with these Makino controls does this seem like a software look ahead calculation problem? Or could it be hardware buffer overflow issue? Any suggestions are appreciated thank you.
