We just bought a TM-1P for R&D purpose and this is my first time machining 8620 steel on a CNC so I'm not really sure on what correct feed/speed I should dial in.
I wonder if anyone can give me some good recommendations for this job.
Two processes that I worry most: first for facing, I'm using a 3in dia, 6 carbide insert tool at 3500rpm, 20ipm, .020in DOC. And there are sparks flying all over even with coolant on.
The other one is regular roughing and finishing with .75" carbide endmill at 2400rpm, 35ipm. And it wears out after about 7 hrs cutting. Personally, I think it's a too short for normal tool life but I might be wrong. That's why any kind of tips and experiences you guys could share is really helpful for me.
