I am on a project where we need to machine Sintered alloy component (FLC 4608) - Boring
Its a taper bore and length is 10.75mm and taper angle is 8 Degree
Finish required is 0.5Ra
Currently for ID Roughing i am using CNMG 12 04 08 IC907 with cutting parameters 120 m/min , 0.12 mm/rev and life is 15 components per edge. Type of cut is interrupted
We manufacture around 40,000 components per month and insert tool life is just horrible
For ID finishing, we use CBN inserts CNGA120408S01730MET KBN25M and the life is 150 component/edge. Type of cut is Smooth. Cutting Parameters: 120m/min and 0.06 mm/rev
Insert changing reason is when the Ra>0.5
Please suggest as to what inserts/grade/geometry would be suitable for such material!! Hardness is aroung 35 HRC. We want a good tool producitvity
