In this case the encoder is absolute type - BetaA32B in the Beta 1 to Beta 6 side of the chart.
A. Under signal name... what does SD and REQ mean ?
B. Why are there asterisks attached to SD-13 and REQ-6 ?
Voltage readings at both X and Z (small CNC lathe) are
6. 3.27
8. 5.06
12. 2.73
13. 2.29
14. 6 (this is the 6 volt backup battery)
15. 5.06
C. Could .3 or less volts at pin 5 mean anything significant ? (pin 5 may actually be zero, which is why I didn't include it in the column...left my notes at the shop, but do remember now one pin had .3 volts and now guessing it was pin 5) And FWIW, the encoder cables have been checked for continuity and these voltage readings are at the D Sub 15 plug that plugs into the encoder.
Readings are with Fanuc Beta amp unit A06B-6093-H111 with "power" and "link" LED's aglow but "ready" light is not on. Alarm light off.
(As an aside, am I the only one that wants to dope slap Fanuc for using symbols not easily reproduced on a keyboard so you have to type out the whole word ? (Alpha and Beta) )
