Staging next tool quicker in side mount tool changer.

Have a new machine here Haas VF-2SS with a side mount tool changer.

One thing I have noticed on short cycle tools (for example, spot tool) is that the machine has to wait for the side mount to get the next tool staged before making a tool change.

The tool in the spindle when finished hesitates at Z.1 while the tool changer indexes to get the next tool and once found, the tool change is performed.

I notice in longer tool cycles, that the tool changer does not go and stage the next tool until a few lines before the tool change is called for in the program, thus when a really short tool cycle is being run, it has to wait.

This machine changes tools from chip to chip in literally just a few seconds so I imagine the speed of the process itself is partially to blame, but it has left me wondering if there is any code I can implement into the program to stage the next tool immediately after the tool in use has begun its cycle, thus speeding the process along.

Thanks in advance!
Russ
