Don't know if this is general knowledge or not, but I just figured out how to disassemble a Bilz style tap holder.
I have a Lyndex tap holder that was losing it's balls :D. As in, one was completely gone and one was split in half. Needless to say, its performance was undependable.
Today I figured to either fix it or toss it.
Here are the pics of the very simple process (very low quality):
1. Hold the holder in a soft-jawed, bench vise and use 2 stout screwdrivers to pry the retainer out of the holder. It drags for about 1/8" then pops loose, throw a rag over it first so you don't need to hunt for the parts on the floor....

2. Here's all the parts inside. (with the new balls since I couldn't find the originals (see step 1))

I put a little grease on the balls to hold them in place while squeezing the whole assembly back together in the vise.
Works like new.
