I am working with a client on a process improvement project involving parts being run on a large twin table router with a Fanuc 16i control. They are running approx 50 P/Ns from a half dozen part families. The fixtures handle all of the parts but since parts and part families have been added over several years there are inconsistencies in part locations and the way programs have been written. The inconsistencies are causing excessive setup times and a few quality issues. So it's basically time to reset and do-over.
My question for the forum has to do with the left table being the Y-axis and the right table the V-axis. I don't like the idea of having a long program that you then have to duplicate for the second table replacing all of the Y's with V's. I know the machine doesn't care but from a programming standpoint it seems inelegant and pain to edit. I have been able to find info on Simple Synchronization to run the Y and V as master and slave but have found no info on substituting a V-axis move for a Y-axis call. Is there a way to accomplish this?
