Lucas HBM issues

Come on guys...somebody's got to have some info on this! Here's my question I posted a few days ago....

Gents:

I run a Lucas 30T boring mill, with a Dynapath retrofit. The machine was manufactured in the mid '70's. Lately, the machine has not been returning to "zero" in the X axis. Whether interpolating or simply boring, when the program is complete the spindle does not return to my starting point, usually by about .025". The controller says that everything is "zero'd" but my indicators say differently. This of course means that the next time I make a cut my center is off, and we have had to do some rework because bores are not in line.

I am an experienced operator, and have limited experience physically working on the machine. I spent 5 weeks with Paul from Lucas Precision repairing, leveling, and troubleshooting the machine, so I am not totally ignorant about its inner workings. But neither am I an expert...

If you have any suggestions or ideas as to what could cause this problem I would be greatly appreciative.
