I'm told these boards are no longer made and expensive to repair. Does anyone know what usually dies on them ..... like maybe the H-bridge FETs? I figure if the weak spots are known then maybe I could stock up on those parts. And I'm hoping all the IC's are industry standard parts, meaning no ASIC's or FPGA's.
On another note, I was considering installing Amphenol connectors for all wires going to the control box, and I noticed that some of the wires to the GA370 boards (tach?) need to be terminated. I'm assuming this means terminated like a transmission line. Not sure how critical this is, in particular I wonder if the impedance discontinuity of an Amphenol connector will cause a signal integrity problem. Looks like the max frequency anywhere on the board is something like 20KHz, so I don't think this will be a problem but I'm just not sure. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
