Fadal spindle pulley slipped on the shaft -- can that happen?

I have a mid 90s fadal 4020HT. 10k head. Just now it won't orient correctly. Or rather, or will orient correctly... in the wrong orientation. I took off the head covers and watched it through an m19 cycle, and it finds the magnet OK and the detent roller engages. So that part works. Its just that the drive keys are 30 degrees off their orientation, so obviously it won't change tools.

Its almost like the whole pulley slipped on the spindle shaft. As far as I know, the pulley is a shrink fit. Its a little worn looking, but not hideous. Has anyone seen a pulley slip like this before? If I take everything apart, heat it up and re-orient, will it just slip again? Am I better off just spending the $300 to get a new pulley and be done with it? Anything to watch out for?

I was drilling half inch holes in aluminum at 2000rpm when it happened, .002ipt feed, so its not like I had a monster amount of torque on the spindle.

Thanks,
John
