My wife and I are putting together a small job shop that will focus on milling and turning small runs of parts; 1 to 10 pcs. We are looking to leverage modern software and machine controls to enable us to move from job to job relatively quickly.
We are in the fortunate position to have to choose between a Haas TM-3 and a Prototrak DPMSX5P. As I see it both have the same X,Y capacity 40" x 20". Both have good controls.
The Haas is heavier more powerful, and will plug right into 220 single phase.
The Prototrak is easier to use as a manual machine, requires a phase converter. I like and dislike the idea of a quill all at the same time.
I am hoping to get some opinions on which would be the better machine to start an small shop with.
Thanks for your input,
Tiny Troll
