I am having a bit of an inconsistent issue with a small 1" diameter part, 304ss, where the stringy finish pass chip sometimes gets stuck in the radial groove at the end of the part before the sub spindle comes in and grabs it. Because it is a long stringy chip the sub spindle air blast is not taking care of the problem.
I'm already feeding from the chuck outwards, which has helped but sometimes I still get a small birds nest on the end of the part.
I am thinking about mounting a wire brush or something in a boring holder to come in and try and pick the chip off before the transfer. I have a thousand parts to do and I don't want someone to sit there and baby sit it if possible...
I'm not a lathe guy at all so I am not up to speed the tricks associated in dealing with this stuff:o
